Instead of purchasing a new wallet, you can create one of your own in no time. With nothing more than a roll of duct tape, you can make a wallet capable of storing your cash and credit cards. Follow these instructions to make a wallet made of duct tape.
You will need:
- Duct tape - one roll
- Boxcutter or Stanley knife
- Cutting board
- Ruler
Begin by making a sheet of tape. Because you are aiming to create an exact shape, you should use your cutting board, which will help you line up the material more precisely than you could could otherwise. Start with a piece of duct tape placed sticky side down onto the cutting board. The sheet has to be two inches more in length to fit a dollar bill. Lay the tape so that it overlaps by ½ inch advance. Use a third strip of duct tape, overlapping. Place the three strips so that they are double the height of a dollar bill. Put on an additional strip if they aren't.
Flip the sheet so the other side is facing up. After removing the sheet from the cutting board, position it with the tacky side facing up. Then put another layer of tape tacky side down so that it covers over the original sheet of tape with a half inch excess on all sides. After this you will have a sheet made of duct tape that is just sticky along the edges.
Fold the sticky edges so they touch each other. That's all there is to make the sheet of tape.
Redo the first three steps build a pocket. The short side of the second sheet needs to be a half inch smaller than the original.
Create the wallet. Begin by folding the first sheet in half along its length. It is very important to make certain that the basic shape of the wallet is able to accommodate the shape of paper bills. Do this once more with the 2nd sheet of tape. Stick the second sheet on top of the first in a way that it makes a place to put your credit cards in. Next, fasten the sides of the wallet closed, using two pieces of duct tape.
Crease the wallet down the middle. Voila! Your wallet is finished!
Fill your wallet with cash. Put the wallet in your hip pocket and you're all set. You won't have wear and tear on your wallet while it keeps your cash safe and convenient. You may use different colored tape to decorate your wallet in your own style.
